Shirley Lorraine MacKay - 53, of New Minas, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at home. Born in Shelburne, she was a daughter of the late Winslow and Elsie (Veinotte) MacKay. She lived in New Minas for most of her adult life and worked at Sears for 13 years where she will be sadly missed by her co-workers. She is survived by two daughters who were the pride and joy and loves of her life, Kandace O’Brien and Erin O’Brien, both of New Minas; a brother, Arthur James (Eileen), Shelburne; several loving nieces and nephews and their children. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2010, Reverend Murray Shaw officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Locust Hill Cemetery, Jordan Falls, Shelburne County. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Cancer Society.
