The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family and her best friend, Joan Fitzgerald, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Sunday, June 21, 2009, of Mary Cora Burch (nee MacDonald) of Summerside and formerly of Richmond, P.E.I., age 94 years. Mary was born on August 29, 1914, in Sunnyside, P.E.I., to her late parents, Fred and Margaret (nee MacPhee) MacDonald. Beloved wife of the late Vernon Burch and loving mother of Denise (William) Fielder of Richmond and Shirley (John) McPhee of New Hampshire, U.S.A. Also lovingly remembered by her four grandchildren, Greg, Amie, Celeste and John Paul; her eight great-grandchildren, Jenna, William, Laney, Richard, Daniel, Bradley, Nicholas and Kacey; and her sister-in-law, Mary Elwin MacDonald of Summerside. Besides her husband and parents, Mary was predeceased by her son, Clair; daughters, Deborah and Verna Burch; sisters, Hilda Fitzgerald and Helen Roberts; and brothers, Stephen and Frederick MacDonald. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Wednesday, June 24, 2009, then to Immaculate Conception Church, Richmond, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Mary’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated.
