Bliss Brewer

June 8, 1925 - November 23, 2010 - Bliss died peacefully, with his family by his side at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, November 23, 2010. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Even in his later years, he had a twinkle in his eye and loved to laugh. What a joy to know he is in Heaven with His Lord and Savior whom he loved so much. Bliss was born in Green Hill, NB, the son of the late Gordon and Minnie (Cookson) Brewer. He worked in road construction, owned and operated a country store in Cross Creek for 18 years, and worked for NB Power as a boom truck driver and dispatcher, until he retired in 1990. He was a faithful member of the Cross Creek Baptist Church, having served as a deacon, choir member and AWANA Games Director for many years. Bliss is survived by his loving wife, Donna of 58 years; one son, Don (Denise); four daughters, Mary Woodcock (Terry), Joy Lomax (Kevin), Sandra Emery (Chris) and Wendy Stewart (Guy); 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Muriel Sparkes (Pete); one brother, Paul and 13 nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bliss was predeceased by one brother, Charlie.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, November 25, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Cross Creek Baptist Church on Friday, November 26, 2010 at 2 pm with Pastor Terry Woodcock officiating with Pastor Gordon Mowry assisting; followed by a reception. Interment will take place in Cross Creek Baptist Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Cross Creek Baptist Church, the Gideon Bible Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
