Bathurst - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Kent, 89, wife of the late Sydney Kent (1954), of Bay View Village, Bathurst and formerly of South Tetagouche, passed away on Monday (November 22, 2010) at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness. Born in Harbour Breton, N.L., she was the daughter of the late Captain Henry and Ellen (Piercy) Hynes. She is survived by six children, Pat Kent of Thunder Bay, Ont., Susan Doucet of Bathurst, Charlene Roy (Gordon) of Bathurst, Steve Kent (Betty) of South Tetagouche, Allie Kent of Moncton, Helen White (Garnet) of River Hebert, N.S.; six sisters, Dot Warner, Anne Surette and Margaret Riggs (Stan), all of Halifax, N.S., Theresa Cook of B.C., Mary Maher (Pat) of N.L., Susie Orman (Lloyd) of Lower Sackville, N.S.; 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter, Joan (2004); a son, Donnie (1974); six brothers, Joe, Clarence, Steve, Sandy, Hugh, Henry and a sister, Elly Rose.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Thursday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday afternoon (November 26, 2010) at 2 p.m. from the Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave., Bathurst. Visiting hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Friday from noon until time of Funeral.
