It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Donald Guy Estabrooks, 85, of Amherst on Monday, November 22, 2010 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan.
Born in Middle Sackville, NB, he was a son of the late John and Leta (Nix) Estabrooks.
Don worked for the Enterprise Foundry in Sackville, NB for 40 years as a molder.
He was an avid sportsman as a player, coaching his son in Minor Hockey and Little League, supporting both daughters in figure skating as well as watching local sports, especially the Amherst Jr. A Ramblers. He was well known in the local community and was often seen walking in the mornings with his buggy.
Don will be lovingly remembered by his children, Peter (Beth), Amherst; and Christine (David) Bacon, Moncton, NB; brother, Austin Estabrooks, Sackville, NB; grandchildren, Susan, Robbie, Andrea, and Ashley; three great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. He will be specially missed by his best friend, Sam Skinner, Amherst.
Besides his parents, Don was predeceased by his wife the former, Shirley Mylrea; daughter, Penny Hanlon; sister, Verna Perry; and brothers, Carmen and Randall.
Cremation has taken place.
Family and friends are invited to a Gathering on Thursday, November 25, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906).
Private family interment will follow in the Christ Church Cemetery.
Donations in Don’s memory to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Foundation, the Amherst Jr. A Ramblers Alumni or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by his family.
