1914 - 2010

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Hilma Frolek on November 20, 2010 at the age of 96.

Hilma was born along with her twin brother, Hilbert DeLeeuw, in Kamloops on September 24, 1914. She was a true local pioneer marrying Dan Frolek in 1941 and living her whole life in the Rose Hill and Knutsford areas. Hilma was the typical rancher's wife tending the livestock and garden and cooking her famous hearty meals for the various ranch crews. In her later years she enjoyed many trips with Wells Gray Tours.

Hilma is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter Lucille (Jack) Dempsey, sons Ray (Donna) and Dennis (Vicci), daughter-in-law Debby Frolek (Chuck Nikkels), grandchildren: Aline (Ron) Ngai, Sheila (Gillbert) Boudreau, Darren (Paige) Dempsey, Lark Frolek-Dale (Kenny Dale) and Trinity Frolek (Chad Affleck). Hilma also leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren: Breanna, Sarah and Mackenzie Boudreau, Marcus Ngai, Emira, Kaden and Ainsley Dempsey, Amber and Jacob Frolek, and Mallory and Amanda Affleck.

Her husband, Dan, grandson, Trevor, parents, Frank and Germaine DeLeeuw and brothers Hilbert and Andre DeLeeuw, predeceased her.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dana Levere and her dedicated, caring staff at Ridgeview Lodge for their tireless support and care of our mother. Thank you also to Dr. Hamilton, and the staff at both Royal Inland Hospital and Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., Father Derrick Cameron, Celebrant.
