Margaret Gilks

The death of Mrs. Margaret Lillian (Hubbard) Gilks, wife of the late William Gilks of Bryenton, NB, occurred on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 91. Born in Bryenton, NB, she was the daughter of the late William and Irene (Bryenton) Hubbard. Margaret was a member of Ferguson Presbyterian Church, a retired School Teacher, served as a Trustee of the Millerton Consolidated School District, one of the founding members of the Derby Senoirs, member of the Atlantic Mission Society, Charter member of the Prince Andrew Chapter # 42 Order of the Eastern Star and an avid knitter and quilter. Margaret is survived by: three daughters: Sylvia Hallihan (Robert) of Renous, NB; Margaret Green (John) of Williamstown, NB; Lauris Cortes (Robert) of Parker Road, NB; two sons: Delbert at home; Bradley (Traci) of Williamsburg, Virginia; one sister: Shirley Burns (Lawrence) of Newcastle, NB; two brothers: Wilson (Carol) of Woodstock, NB; Gerald (Izella) of Bryenton, NB; 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Margaret is predeceased by: sister: Gladys Manderville, son in law: Charles Blakeley and great granddaughter: Carlee Carney.
The family will receive visitors at Bell's Funeral Home this evening from 6 to 9 PM and on Wednesday from 2 to 5 PM. The funeral service will be held from Ferguson Presbyterian Church, Bryenton on Thursday at 3 PM with Rev. Bradford Blaikie officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In Margaret's memory, donations may be made to the Miramichi Chapter of the Right to Life or Ferguson Presbyterian Church.
