Ella Baxendale

Lieu de naissance : Leitches Creek, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de naissance : 16 juin 1922

Lieu de décès : Sydney Mines, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 21 juin 2009

Ella was born in Leitches Creek June 16, youngest daughter of James Dunlap and Margaret (Musgrave) Dunlap and passed away at the QEII Infirmary June 21, 2009, at the age of 87, five days after her birthday.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Her early working career started at Sydney Engineering but stopped to raise her family. She resumed working at HB Nickerson & Sons and was employed there for 17 years stopping only to care for her sick husband. She also taught shorthand and typing at night school in Florence, Bras d’Or and Sydney Mines for many years — years she cherished.
She enjoyed life to the fullest and always said if she didn’t have quality of life she didn’t want to go on — it was her wish to stop all treatment and just be kept comfortable until the end.
Mum was actively involved in the community and thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the Sydney Mines Seniors & Pensioners, the Miners Memorial Manor Auxillary, Breton Branch 8 Legion. As well as her zest for life in general, included fishing, playing the VLTs, riding the harley, eating out, traveling, politics and generally having a good time, she was always game for anything.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cyril; brothers, baby Robert and Jimmy; sisters, Myrtle and Charlotte ‘Lottie’ O’Brien.
She leaves behind three daughters, Cheryl (Aaron Langille), Truro, Val, Georges River with whom she recently decided to reside, and Arlene, Calgary; granddaughter, Kim Langille; her best friend, Dorie Latwaitis; as well many nieces, nephews, cousins and a large circle of close friends.
Cremation has taken place.
A gathering of her friends will take place at the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines Thursday, June 25, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass to celebrate Ella’s life will be held Friday June 26, at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Hughie MacNeil officiating. The burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. A reception to follow at the Sydney Mines Pensioners Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northside Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 399, North Sydney, N.S., B2A 3M4, or charity of choice.
