Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, 5 North A. on Sunday, November 28, 2010, Elizabeth Theresa Stanley (nee Whelan), age 85 years old. She was predeceased by her loving husband Frank (2004); great-grandson Alex (2009); parents Ned (Asst. Chief RNC) and Annie Whelan; brothers: Bill, Jack and Patrick. Leaving to mourn her only son Frank; daughter-in-law Paula; five grandsons who she cherished dearly: Bryce (Nancy), Calgary, Jason (Sara, great-grandson Inti), Paris; Scott, Fort McMurray, Matthew (Janine, great-granddaughter, Emma), Fort Worth, Texas and Ben (Tugce), Waterloo; brother Bro. David Whelan, O.S.B., Westminster Abbey, Mission City, B.C.; also a large circle of family and friends. Thank you to the very caring staff and friends of Margaret's Manor where Betty called home these past 4 years, especially Dr. Major and Madeline Byrne. Thank you to Father Roche who made many visits to Betty during this past hospitalization. A special thank you to very dear friends, Cynth and Leo Murphy, who made numerous visits to Betty to comfort her and share memories of days gone by...often bringing smiles and laughter to her. Also to Anne (Murphy) Williams, who visited and had a warm spot for Betty. Thank you to niece Elizabeth (Stanley) Fuller for her frequent trips in to see her and bringing her Mom, Beth (Ashley) Stanley. And thank you to niece Sharon (Cleary) and John Morris for the many treats brought to her at Margaret's Manor when they came to take her for a drive and the visits to see and comfort her these past weeks in hospital. Betty enjoyed her visitors and appreciated all the beautiful get-well cards and flowers from her grandsons and their loved ones and also her wonderful friends. And last but not least, thank you to the nursing staff of 5 North A who showed such warmth and compassion in their care for her these last 9 weeks. We shall never forget them. Betty was fortunate to have seen all her family these last few months before passing and though not all could make it home for her funeral, they have memories of seeing their Nan before she had to say good-bye. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 2nd, at 9:30 a.m. from Corpus Christi Church. Cremation to follow with inurnment at the R.C. Cemetery, Kilbride. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
