It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Patricia 'Patsy' (Hawley) MacIsaac on Tuesday Nov. 30, 2010 at home.
Born in New Waterford she was the daughter of the late Harold and Tena (Chiasson) Hawley. She was a member of St. Leonard's Parish, formerly Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Patsy attended Mount Carmel High School and then went on to graduate from New Waterford School of Nursing in 1969. She began her career in St. Joseph's Hospital, Glace Bay followed by a short time working in Point Edward Hospital. After 25 years of service, she retired from Nova Scotia Public Health in 1999. Patsy was always ready to lend a hand to those in need, donating financially to various causes and could regularly be found in the kitchen cooking up a meal for the family she loved so much. She was a great support to many people around her and always willing to lend an ear or hold a hand. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She will be sadly missed by her husband and best friend Raymond MacIsaac; daughter Raylene (Shannon) MacLeod; brother Greg (Cathy) Hawley and her precious grandchildren Andrew MacIsaac and Erynn MacLeod. She also leaves to mourn sisters-in-law Marg Kearney, Sheila (Steve) Halliday, both of Halifax, Kay (John) May, Glace Bay; brothers-in-law John 'brother' (Frauke) MacIsaac, Ontario, Donnie MacIsaac, Korea, Doug MacIsaac, Ronnie (Charlotte) MacIsaac, both of Halifax; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her special friend Patricia 'Patti' MacIntyre, New Waterford.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a son Joseph, in infancy; father-in-law Angus MacIsaac; mother-in-law Isabel MacIsaac, and brother-in-law Greg MacNeil.
Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Patsy will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery at a later date.
There will be a luncheon held at St. Leonard's Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford, immediately following the funeral mass.
