Conrad Yavis
1951 - 2010 - Conrad Yavis, of Marysville, NB passed away after a short and courageous battle with cancer on December 2, 2010 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on September 3, 1951 in Brandon, Manitoba, he was the son of Christopher and Helen (Baran) Yavis. He will be greatly missed by his two sons Paul Yavis (Kingston, ON) and Sam Yavis (Fredericton, NB); his sisters Laura Smith (Blaine) French Lake, NB, Cathy Foster (Greg) Burton, NB, Leslie Romans (Ernie) Ottawa, ON, Lynn Park (Mike) Oromocto, NB; his brother Casey Yavis (Marjorie) London, ON; nephews Robin, Sean, Derek, Tyler and Kyle and nieces Kimberley, Kirsten, Penny, Sabrina, Alexis and Sidney. He was predeceased by his infant niece Jacqueline Smith. Conrad worked at CFB Gagetown for the past 17 years, but his passion was music. He was a well-known singer in the Fredericton-Oromocto area and had won many awards. He started singing at the age of three, and never stopped. Some of his bands included Red Eye, Sunbury County, and Shadow on the Rocks.
There will be no visitation by request of the family. A funeral mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Oromocto, NB on Monday, December 6th, 2010 at 11 AM with a reception following the service. Father Ken Weir will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Oromocto SPCA or the Palliative Care Unit at the Oromocto Public Hospital.
