Lieu de décès : Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 3 décembre 2010
It is with much sadness that we, the family of John Gerard Coleman, announce his passing on Dec. 3, 2010.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of John (Jack) Coleman and Nell MacInnis, and brother to Allister (Helen) and Greg (Pat). He was also a loving uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Dad had many joys in life but his greatest were his loving wife of 58 years, Jean Campbell; and his three children, Ken (who predeceased him in 2006), Lynn (Alan) MacEachern, Janice (David) Ferguson, and his five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Andrea and Grant MacEachern, Cole and Alex Ferguson.
Passionate about music, Dad loved playing his saxophones. As an accomplished musician he played in many bands over the years; most notably with Jerry Coleman and The Scotians. He was also an active member of the Sydney Mines Centennial Band and could be found playing for visitors on board the cruise ships entering and exiting the harbour.
As maritime site head for Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., Dad managed the Glace Bay, Port Hawkesbury and Point LePreau sites and was employed in this role until his retirement. Prior to this he was employed by Cape Breton Development Corp. He also sat on the boards of many local agencies.
Dad was blessed to have had 81 full years and it is these memories we will hold in our hearts.
Cremation has taken place and a mass of remembrance will be held in St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay, on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m.
