(April 20, 1949-Dec. 3, 2010) - Former owner of Kilbride Auto Body. Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family at the HSC on Dec. 3, 2010, Gerald Cross aged 61 years. Predeceased by his parents: Jim (1965) and Emma (1995); mother-in-law: Theresa Alves (2009); brother-in-law: Sid Quann (2010); and sister-in-law: Carol Quann. Left to mourn his wife of 40 years and best friend, who was always by his side, Shelia; three sons: Gerry (Colleen), Jamie (Jackie) and Jeffrey; three precious grandchildren: Evan, Leah and Charolette; five brothers: Herb (Gertrude), Fred (Doris), Harry (Una), Curtis and Randy (Brenda); two sisters: Anne (Robert Green) and Roxanne (Paul Crocker); father-in-law: Manuel Alves; brother-in-law: Harold Quann (Debbie); sisters-in-law: Shirley and Barb (Dave Reese); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to family friend Kay Frizzell, as well as Rod Stafford, Dr. Thomkins and Dr. Leer and their teams, the nurses from 4 South A, hospital chaplains Rev. John Courage, Rev. Gerry Hayes and Rev. Geoff Peddle from the Church of the Good Shepherd. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Saturday 7-9 p.m., Sunday 10- 12 noon, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Monday 10-12 noon. Funeral service to take place from the Church of the Good Shepherd on Monday December 6, 2010 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. For anyone who knew Gerald through his working years knew the hard work and determination he profiled each day to support his family. That same hard work and determination surface dwith more vigor in his last years to overcome his illness and disabilities. It was always a pleasure to be in his company whether it was the garage, or his home or the hospital, you were always welcome with open arms. His wit and humor a joy to receive and his laugh and smile were infectious. Gerald has left many fond memories behind and will be sadly missed by all.
