Long, (Levy) Helen Rose, 69 of Black River, Kings Co. passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Helen grew up on Davison St., a daughter of the late Lemuel & Muriel (Davidson) Levy. She spent her adult life in Black River as a homemaker & was an active member of the White Rock United Baptist Church. She spent many hours devoted to the Black River Community Club. Helen loved to garden, bake, do needlepoint & in her earlier years, spent many hours helping her beloved husband with farm chores & woods work. She loved spending time with her friends & family. She always reached out to those in need, always putting others first. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother. Helen is survived by her daughters, Tammy (Brian) Schofield, Black River; Cindy (Paul) Crowdis, Newport Corner; sons, Jeff (Mary), Black River; Trevor (Wanda), Black River; brothers, Keith (Lillian) Levy, Indiana; Ian (Joan) Levy, Bedford; Wade (Sue) Levy, Unionville, Ont.; Laurie (Stella) Levy, White Rock; sister, Darlene Turner, Dartmouth. She will be deeply missed by grandchildren, Josh, Tasia, Sara, Jonathan, Nicholas, Greg, Mitchell, Jacob, Devan & Brett; great grandchildren, Jaiden, Breanna, Logan & Grace. Helen is predeceased by her husband, Bruce & step-father, Clyde Forsythe. Cremation has taken place under the care & direction of the Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook. A graveside service was held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 in Black River Cemetery. Rev. Mark Shaw officiating. In respect of her wishes, there was no visitation, reception or flowers. Donations may be made in Helen's memory to the Black River Community Club c/o Darlene Hennigar, 644 Newtonville Rd. R.R.1 Wolfville, N.S. B4P 2R1 or Valley Regional Hospital Foundation, Cancer Care.
