LAUTHER, Smiley Miller - 83, Truro, passed away peacefully, with his loving family at his side, on Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. He worked at Canada Post, Truro, for many years and retired in 1990. He enjoyed encouraging and watching his children and grandchildren playing sports and also loved to cheer on his favourite baseball and hockey teams, San Francisco Giants and Toronto Maple Leafs. Smiley is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ann Margaret Canning; children, Faye Lauther, Truro; Gail Atwell, Cornwall, Ontario; Janice (Frank) Bonnell, Bible Hill; George Lauther, Truro; Russ (Heather) Lauther, North River; Troy (Charlene) Lauther, Truro; Todd (Crystal) Lauther, Valley; 17 grandchildren; several grandchildren. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Chris Cook, nurses on Floor 4 South, especially Kelly MacDonald and the Palliative Care Team, especially Dr. Cortney Smith and Lisa Wilson. A private family interment has been held in Terrace Hill Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Smiley's memory to Palliative Care Unit, Colchester Regional Hospital are welcomed.
