RICHARDS, Winnifred Grace "Winnie" - 84, Windsor, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010 in Hants Community Hospital, after a courageous battle with lung cancer with her children and the apple of her eye (Shelley) by her side. Winnie was born June 4, 1926 in Miller's Creek to the late Ezra and Margaret (Macumber) Sanford. When Winnie had a young family she would bake bread and pies to sell to help make ends meet. She was a wonderful cook and she loved music and oh how she loved to laugh. Winnie is survived by her children Kenneth, Frances Hawboldt (Leonard), Garnet (Joan), Billy (Goldie), Charlotte, Myrtle Levy (Earle Schurman) and Lorraine Ward (Special Daughter); 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, John and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, George; brother, Henry and sisters, Mattie, Annie, Bessie, Eunice, Sadie and Goldie. Arrangements for cremation were entrusted to Lohnes-DeMont Funeral Service Ltd., 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where an informal reception to celebrate Winnie's life was held on Tuesday, November 30 at 2:00 P.M. in the Elmcroft Reception Centre, Rev. Garnet Parker officiated. Burial will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Hants Community Hospital, 89 Payzant Dr., Windsor, NS B0N 2T0. The family extends sincere thanks and gratitude to the many well-wishes during mom's hospital stay and after.
