Isabel Christina (MacLean) MacLean, 84, passed away peacefully, June 21, 2009, in the Inverary Manor, Inverness, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in North Lake Ainslie, she was a daughter of the late Archie and Sadie MacLean (MacKinnon). She was an active and valued member of St. Matthews United Church and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 132, Inverness. She was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in the air force for three and a half years as a secretary.
Following this she trained at the Glace Bay General Hospital, where she graduated as an RN in 1950. For the next 40 years she worked at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.
She was a beloved and devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her five children, Carol (Wayne) Gillis, S.W. Margaree, Sharon (Reg) Fraser, Dartmouth, Barry (Louise) MacLean, Edmonton, Fern (Carl) Grandy, Elmsdale and Bruce (Jane) MacLean, Vancouver; grandchildren, Allison, Krista and Evan Gillis, Lynn Fraser, Lee and Jason MacLean and Glen Grandy; great-grandson, Jacob MacLean. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Barbara MacLean, Coburg, Ont.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Henry in 2002; infant son, Glen Wayne; brother, Allister MacLean.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, June 26 at Inverness Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 27 at St. Matthew’s United Church, Inverness with Rev. Roger Moore officiating. Burial in Stratlorne Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Matthew’s United Church, Parkinson’s; Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital or the Inverary Manor.
