Jessie McKinnon, 83, of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at the Strait Richmond Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John Ambrose and Agnes (Currie) MacKinnon.
She was a member of St. Anthony Daniel parish, Sydney. She retired after 14 years at the Moncton office of the Unemployment Insurance Commission in 1983. Prior to this she was at the Sydney branch of the same department for many years.
Surviving are her sister, Mrs. Mary Morley, Halifax; and brother, Fr. John MacKinnon, Sydney; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sister, Catherine MacDonald and six brothers, Daniel, John A., Alex, Bernard, Sylvester and by Francis in infancy.
Visitation for Jessie Theresa MacKinnon will take place Friday, June 26 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Daniel Church with Fr. Donald MacGillivary officiating. Burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Memorial donations may be made to the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home or charity of choice.
