Elizabeth Lynn Dolmont-Ross

DOLMONT-ROSS, ELIZABETH LYNN - 44, of Truro, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 7, 2010, surrounded by her family after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer. Born in North Sydney, Nova Scotia on Sept. 5, 1966, Lynn was the daughter of Maureen (Brown) and (the late) Patrick Dolmont. Lynn is also survived by her kind and loving husband of 20 years, Chris; wonderful sons, Patrick and Tristen; devoted sisters (and her best friends) Karyn (Andrea Baldwin), Halifax and Tara-Jane (John Doherty), The Bahamas; nephew, Sean and niece, Hadyn, The Bahamas; maternal grandmother, Etta Brown, Sydney Mines; cherished aunt, Lorna Dolmont, North Sydney; Uncle Blair (Patti) Brown, Halifax; "uncles" Jim Dolmont and Bill Kirby, North Sydney; father and mother-in-law, Brian and Doreen Ross, Truro. Also mourning her passing from near and far are sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, many cousins and countless friends who will miss her dearly and will remember her with love and pride. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Edith (Carter) Dolmont; maternal grandparents, Edward and Jane (MacDougall) Brown; uncles, Michael Dolmont and Murdock McDougall; and aunt, Deborah (Brown) Ludwig. After graduating from St. Francis Xavier University and completing her B. Ed. at the Nova Scotia Teachers College and Mount Saint Vincent University, Lynn taught junior high math for the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board for many years. Most recently she taught grade six at Truro Junior High School. One of Lynn's many talents as an educator was her ability to reach and inspire even the most challenging students and those most in need of motivation. With this gift Lynn made a positive influence on the lives of many of her young students. Lynn was proud of her Cape Breton roots. She will be remembered for her terrific sense of humour, thoughtfulness, giving nature and gentle non-judgmental spirit. She loved her family and was very proud of her two boys - her greatest legacy. Lynn enjoyed a special and close relationship with her mom Maureen, with whom she shared many cherished times. She also shared an enviable bond with her sisters who never left her side throughout her struggle. Lynn had a passion for health and fitness. She enjoyed walking and working out at the gym. She also loved travelling with her family and was known for capturing magical moments from those trips in pictures. Lynn and her family wish to thank the staff of the Colchester Regional Hospital and the palliative and home care teams, especially nurse, Ann McKim, for the exceptional care they provided. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Fri. Dec. 10 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. At 8 pm there will be an opportunity to share brief reflections in celebration of Lynn's life. A funeral service will take place at Immaculate Conception Church 669 Prince St.,Truro on Sat. Dec. 11th at 11 a.m. with Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Interment will follow on Sun. Dec. 12th at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Sydney.
