Norman Joseph Francis, 60 of 4695 Shore Rd., Eskasoni, passed away after a brief illness at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Stephen P. and Annie Claire (Paul) Francis.
He was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. Norman was happiest when he was fishing anywhere in Cape Breton with his friends.
He is survived by his wife, the former Wendy Dennis; daughter, Heidi at home; sons, Norman I. (Beverley), Chapel Island; Frank and Corey, at home in Eskasoni; brothers, Rod, Alex (Mary Julia), Daniel, David, Joseph Allan, all of Eskasoni; sisters, Catherine Paul, Josephine Francis, both of Eskasoni; Caroline Francis, Maine; grandchildren, Cassandra, Marcus, Charlotte and Anthony.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Mark Anthony; brothers, Angus and Ryan and sisters, Rosie and Annie Claire.
Visitation for Mr. Francis will take place at the family residence, 4695 Shore Rd., after 7 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery, Eskasoni.
