1914 ~ 2010
Kikuye "Kay" Tahara of Kamloops, B.C., passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the age of 96 years.

Kay is survived by her children Hiroshi (Marie), Toyoko, and Masanori (Rosemarie), all of Kamloops; 10 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brother Kinuko Mori of Toronto, sister-in-law Toshiko Nishikawa of Tokyo; many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Toyotoshi Tahara, sons Toshiyuki and Katsuaki, sister Mikiko of Calgary and brother Toshiyo Nishikawa of Tokyo.

Kay was born in Vancouver, B.C., on September 17, 1914. Kikuye and Toyotoshi were married in 1934 and one year later had the first of their five children. They came to Kamloops in 1956 where Kay resided until her death. She was a very active member of the Kamloops Buddhist Temple and a member of the board of the Women's Auxiliary. She very much enjoyed her time at the Kamloops Japanese Cultural Centre and the Hyakunen Club. She will be sadly missed by all.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, in the Kamloops Buddhist Temple, 361 Poplar St., with Reverend Yasuhiro Miyakaya officiating. A Reception will follow downstairs. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, following the reception, at 1:30 p.m.

Memorial donations in Kay's memory may be made to the Kamloops Buddhist Temple and Overlander Extended Care. Flowers gratefully declined.
