Jocelean Swan Hall of Harvey Station, NB passed away December 10, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, surrounded by her family and friends. Jo was born at Manners Sutton, NB on October 13, 1933 a daughter of the late Clarence David and Zella May (Wilson) Swan. Jo contracted polio in 1954. She embraced life and her courage, grace and strength inspired many. Jo Taught Home Economics and later switched to secretarial work. She was employed by NB Department of Health, Industrial Safety Council, Worker's Compensation Board, and The Council of Maritime Premiers. Jo was a noted amateur historian, genealogist and author of several genealogy books. Her enthusiasm, unwavering commitment, understanding and support made her a beloved member of her community and the centre of her family. Jo is survived by her daughters Kathi Sheriko, Wolfville, NS, Cyndi Hall, Halifax NS; her grandsons Jordan, Jeffrey and Matthew Sheriko, Wolfville, NS; her sister Eleanor Bartlett (Fred), Fredericton, NB; her brothers, Matthew Swan (Sandra) Matapedia, QC, Burke Swan (Pat), Allentown, PA; her sisters-in-law Gladys Swan, Tide Head, NB, Nadine Brothers, Oakville, ON, Grace Hall, Toronto, ON; brother-in-law Basil Hall, Toronto, ON; her nieces and nephews, Sheryl, Cindy, David, Leslie, Jane, Camilla, Ann, David, Michael, Dowey, Trish, Gordon, Bradley, and Lisa; many great nieces and nephews; and her Daughter's brother Sean. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Edward Hall, son-in-law Tom Sheriko, brothers-in-law Fergus Hall (late Gwen) and Clayton Hall.
A private family service has been held. A celebration of life and interment will take place at a later date. Donations may be made in Jo's memory to Camp Triumph, a registered charity supporting children who have a family member with a chronic illness or disability, founded by Jo's daughter Kathi and grandson Jordan. The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional support of her dear friends Betty Piercy and Florence Bartlett.
