It is with sadness that we wish to announce the passing of Betty Jo Cleghorn of Fredericton on Sunday December 12, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born September 25, 1936 in High Springs, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Spencer and Essie (Robinson) Smith. Betty was an office Administrator for Cleghorn Petroleum, Harvey, N.B. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she is survived by her husband of 31 years Jim Cleghorn; sons Rickey Combs (Gail) of Alton, Maine and Bryan Wardwell (Karen) of Ellsworth, Maine; step-daughters Debbie Cleghorn (Fred) of Ottawa, ON, Linda Armstrong (Lane) of Saint John, N.B., Cindy Cleghorn (Randy) and Karen Davidson (Kirk) all of Hoyt, N.B.; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. The funeral service will be held from Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 15 at 2:00 PM with Rev. George Clark officiating. Interment will be in the Harvey Community Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
