The death occurred peacefully at his late residence on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, of James Gerald "Jerry" Rooney of Summerside, aged 78 years. Gerald was born Aug. 10, 1932, in Emerald, P.E.I., to his late parents, Frank and Olive (nee Martin) Rooney. Beloved husband of Florence (nee Hughes) Rooney and loving father of Olive (Gordon) Ashley of Knutsford, Christine Hodder of B.C., Geraldine "Gerri" (Francis) Roberts of Middleton, James "Jim" of Edmonton, Alta., and Richard (Dianne) also of Edmonton. Also lovingly remembered by his step-children Judy Poppowich, Nancy (Jim) Barbaro, Janet Reeves, Rick Reeves, Joyce Reeves, Thane (Robynn) Reeves and Lana Reeves, his uncle Clifford (Rita) Martin, his grandson Tim Reeves along with several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his step-children, Gary, Patsy and Wendy Reeves. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Thursday, Dec. 16, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations in Gerald's memory to the East Prince Funeral Home Chapel fund would be greatly appreciated.
