Claire Bastille

1935 - 2010 - Claire Bastille, born in Montréal, Québec on March 2, 1935. Passed away after a courageous battle with Cancer at The Moncton Hospital in the presence of family members in the late evening of Friday, December 17, 2010. She enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 56 years with her late husband Norman. She will be sadly missed by her son Raymond, daughter Renee (Weaver) son in law Richard Weaver and grandchildren Robert, Rebecca, Rachel. She was the daughter of the late Origene and Annette Ferland. Claire was the eldest of nine children and she was predeceased by her sisters, Monique Brown, Jocelyn Davignon, brother, Maurice and is survived by her sisters Agnes Ferschke, Muriel Johnson, and brothers Roland, John and Frank. While staying at home and raising her family for most of her life she also took on part time jobs outside the home such as a seamstress, working for Schlage and was recognized for her service with Statistics Canada.
There will be no visitation at the request of the family. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 340 Dominion Street, Moncton, on Wednesday, December 22 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care Unit, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton, NB (506) 852-3530.
