C. Ross Murray
1920 - 2010 - Shediac Cape - C. Ross Murray, 90, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, December 21, 2010. Born in Batemans Mill on March 10th, 1920, he was the son of the late George L. and Grace (Atkinson) Murray. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a farmer all his life, sexton at St. Martins-in-the-Wood Anglican Church, hall and bowling club. He was a lifetime parishioner of St. Martins-in-the-Wood Anglican Church and gave countless hours to the community, giving time and talents to caregiving, leaf raking, turkey carving, etc. He was a member of the Silver Sands Seniors, Agricultural Society, and Shediac Cape Bowling Club. Beloved husband of Jean (Welling) Murray; wonderful father of Leslie Johnson (Brian), Steve (Patsy) both of Moncton, Jamie (Cathy), Rick (Cheryl), Barb, Ted at home, Mac (Shelley) all of Batemans Mill. Beloved grandad to David, Michael, Carolyn, Bethany, Angie, Marcie, Ryan, Jane, Jamie-Leigh and Jake; great grandad to Charity, Felicity, Lauryn and Leah; also survived by many nieces, nephews and several other relatives. He was predeceased by his brothers, Lionel (Polly), Norman (Ruth), Alan (Bessie) and sister Maggie "Jack" (Ian) and several Welling in-laws.
Visitation at St. Martins-in-the-Wood Anglican Church, 3400 Route 134, Shediac Cape will be on Thursday, December 23rd from 6 to 9 pm; memorial service at the church on Friday, December 24th at 11 am with Ven. Archdeacon Richard McConnell officiating. Reception to follow at the Young Smith Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Martins-in-the-Wood Memorial Fund, Heart & Stroke Foundation or donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
