HARRIS, Janice Mary Teresa "Jan" - 56, Dayton, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born February 9, 1954 in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Dorothy Mabel (Pothier) Morton. Jan was the owner and operator of Auracom Internet Services, having also worked as a journalist. She was very talented in the areas of creative writing, drawing, poetry, singing and role-playing. She is survived by her husband, Jim Harris, as well as by her children, William (Brenda) Morton, Halifax and Tara (Mike) Ursy, Florida, along with her step-children, James Harris (Donna Adams), Fredericton, NB and Craig Harris, Halifax, and her loving grandchildren, Jeremiah, Kieran, Hailey, Bailey and Amity, and her first great-grandchild who is on the way. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Marie Morton and Sally Harris, as well as her mother-in-law, Clara Harris. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Ben Morton. In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place and there was no visitation by request. A memorial service took place at Huskilson's Memorial Chapel, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 23, Rev. A. D. "Bill" Newell officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia.
