Ian Job Reid, B.Comm. C.M. C.D. 1925-2010. Passed peacefully away at the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion, St. John's on December 27, 2010. Son of Gladys (Job) and Angus Reid and brother of the late Louise Stowell. Leaving to mourn his devoted wife of 59 years, Margot (Ross); three daughters: Douglas (Michael Edwards), Jane (Tom Clark), Sarah (Scott Cameron); two sons Ross and Tim (Kristen Pollack) and grandchildren: Ian (Amanda), Andrew and Charlotte Edwards; Atlee, Jillian and Alex Clark; Reid and Margot Cameron; Taylor, Carly and Nicholas Reid. He attended Bishop Feild College, Ridley College and McGill University. Ian served his country with the RCNVR during World War II 1944-45 and maintained his naval connection through the RCNVR, Crow's Nest, Naval Officers' Association and the Navy League of Canada. He proudly served as the Honorary Colonel of the First Battalion of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. Ian served his community as a volunteer in support of so many organizations and causes including the Canadian Cancer Society; St. Clare's and Grace Hospitals; Duke of Edinburgh Awards; Quidi Vidi Rennie's River Development Foundation. He was a longtime member of the Stokers Group of the Rotary Club of St. John's. Ian was a business leader through Ian J. Reid & Co.; Reid Newfoundland Co.; Job Brothers; Blue Buoy Foods; Atlantic Blue Cross and was delighted to be the first chair of the Canadian Centre for Fisheries and Innovation. He loved to play a round of golf, ski a trail, to swim or to have a game of growl. In 1997 Ian was made a Member of the Order of Canada in recognition of his voluntary service to the community. The family wish to thank Bill Dyke for his care and companionship to Ian as well as the entire crew at the Caribou Pavilion including Dr. Roger Butler, Dr. Elizabeth Mate, Cathy Wicks and their colleagues in all departments. A special thanks to George and Nathan. Ian is to be cremated and the inurnment will be private.
