TANNER, Edith May - 84, Brookfield, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, December 30, 2010, at The Mira Long Term Care Facility, Truro. Born April 14, 1926, in Brentwood, she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Ellen (Boomer) Stevens. Edith worked at Stanfield's Ltd. for a number of years before her retirement. She often said she lost her reason for living when her late husband, Stanley, passed away in 2007 after 63 years of marriage. Edith is survived by her daughter, Beverly Gibbons, Brookfield; son, Marlin (Susan) Tanner, Shubenacadie; sisters, Mary Crossman, Brookfield; Pearl Taylor, Birch Hill; Lena Fell, Toronto; Ethel Fell, Montreal; brother, Cecil (Alice) Stevens, Brookfield; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughters, Jocelyn and Carolyn in infancy; sisters, Hazel Ridge, Irma Lane; brothers, Ralph, Burpee, Duane; son-in-law, John Gibbons. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service was held 2 p.m., Monday, January 3, 2011, Reverend Larry Harrison officiated.
