BATHERSON, Karen Ann (nee Porter) - 63, of Darlings Lake, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on December 25, 2010. Born May 3, 1947, in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Robert Chesley and Pearl Victoria (Cook) Porter. Karen worked as a hairdresser for over 40 years, with the last 20 years being at The Hair Hut in Yarmouth. Karen was an avid knitter, and many enjoyed her sweaters, socks, and mittens. She loved crafts and revitalizing her home. She will be greatly missed by daughter, Sybil (Todd) Stevens, Little River; granddaughters, Sheyanne Crosby and Amanda Batherson, both of Darlings Lake; brother, Bobby (Patsy) Porter, Comox, B.C.; sister, Cheryl (Richard) Wallace, Ireton; her beloved dog, Lola. She was predeceased by daughter, Shelley Batherson; brother, John Robert "Jackie" Porter. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Tuesday, December 28, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held Wednesday, December 29 at 11 a.m. from Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Dave Wilcox officiated. Interment followed in Darlings Lake Cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Donations in memory may be made to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital - Oncology Unit.
