The death occurred, with family at his side, at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home, on Monday, June 29, 2009, of Maynard Gallant, loving husband of Eunice Gallant, of North Rustico, age 71. Maynard was the devoted father of Cheryl (Lester Roberts), Paula, Patrick, Lisa (Alan Murphy) and Colleen (Dougie Doiron). He was the precious grandfather of Mitchell MacLeod (Raeona Pound), Stephen Roberts, Nikki Roberts, Joelle Murphy and Caissie Doiron, and great-grandfather of Emily and Aiden MacLeod. Maynard is also survived by brothers, Desi, James (Audie), Lester, Cyril (Zelda), Martin (Gail), Terry (Ginny) and sisters, Mildred (Dennis), Wanda (Andrew), Marlene (Herbie), Janet (Harold) and Rose (Errol), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Vincent R and Celina Gallant. Resting at the McNeill Room of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico for visitation on Thursday, July 2, 2009, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico, on Friday, July 3, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Stella Maris Church Cemetery. Due to severe allergies, please refrain from wearing scented products. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Maynard’s memory to the Cancer Society or the Stella Maris Cemetery Fund would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
