It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Millie Jackson, 91, formerly of Seaview Street, Glace Bay, and a resident the past six years of Seaview Manor. Millie passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at the Glace Bay Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay she was the daughter of the late Tim and Annie (Bernard) Robinson.
Millie was a faithful follower of the church. At one time she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay. She enjoyed her Saturday outings shopping for Christmas all year round. She was happiest in her kitchen surrounded by her family. Millie was known for her love of the country and spent many summers in Mira.
Millie will be sadly missed by her daughters, Yvonne (Al), Glace Bay, Janet (Gerry), Ottawa, Donna, Glace Bay, Trish, Glace Bay; sons, Barry (Linda), Sydney, and Ronnie (Phyllis), P.E.I. Also surviving are 14 cherished grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Besides her parents, Millie was predeceased by her husband, Lovey Jackson, brother, John Robinson, sisters, Sadie Bliss and Grace MacDonald.
Visitation for Millie Jackson will be held Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment will be at St. Anne's Cemetery, Glace Bay.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Millie's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
