Dr. Albert Short
NEW GLASGOW - Dr. Albert Leroy Short, age 89, formerly of Abercrombie Road, New Glasgow, and Union Centre passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Jerusalem, N.B., he was a son of the late Timothy and Alice Short.
He was a veteran of WWII serving in Europe with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Dr. Short graduated with the first class of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and practiced as a Chiropractor in New Glasgow for over 40 years. He served as President of the Nova Scotia Chiropractor's Association, and the Nova Scotia Board of Chiropractors for several years and was instrumental in passing of the Nova Scotia Chiropractor's Bill. He was a former member of the New Glasgow Lyon's Club where he held many offices. Dr. Short resided in Stellarton for the past few years before moving to the Maritime Oddfellows Home last summer.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Cathy Short, Smithers, B.C.
Dr. Short was predeceased by his wife, Vivian (Connors); sons, Tim and Albert "Bert; an infant daughter, Barbara; and sister, Olive.
Visitations will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, where his funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Gary Tonks officiating. Burial will be in Abercrombie Cemetery.
