We the family of Bernice Haley regret to announce her passing on January 5, 2011 at New Waterford Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of late James and Mary (Goguen) Butler.
Bernice was a member of the former Mount Carmel Parish, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard and was a long time employee of the Medical Hall Drug Store in New Waterford.
Bernice took great pride and joy in her flower gardening and enjoyed her days working in her yard. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, with a life-long faith in God.
She is survived by her son John Cathcart (Darlene) Bedford N.S. and grandsons Bryant and Michael. She is also survived by sisters Lucy (James) Klinger, New Waterford, Marie Carrigan, Toronto, Adele Hinchey, Sydney, and brother Roy Butler (Sheila) Winnipeg, and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband of 27 years John, and brothers Louis, Joe, James and Gordon.
She will be sadly missed by all, including her home care workers Dolly Bailey and Judy Challner who took such wonderful care of Bernice in recent years.
Visitation for Bernice will be held Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Monday at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Carmel Center.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Canadian Celiac Association or a charity of ones choice.
