Zelda A. West, in her 97th year, of the Drew Nursing Home, Sackville and formerly of Sunny Brae and Royal Court, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, January 6, 2011 with her loving family by her side. Born in Sunny Brae, she was the daughter of the late Arthur H. and Pearl (Kelly) West. Zelda was the second oldest member of Sunny Brae Baptist Church, was retired from the Federal Government Employment Office (Employment Officer) and served as a Volunteer in England during WWII. Zelda loved traveling and spending time with her loving nieces and nephew at the cottage in Shediac Bridge. Zelda will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephew, Dawne Hutchison (Ian) of Montreal, David Bursey (Diane) of Bridgewater, Judie Grantham (John) of Moncton, Cynthia Black (John Lutz) of Cocagne and Bonnie Lyon of Grand Bay-Westfield; 13 great nieces and nephews and 14 great great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Zeta Bursey and Eva Pauley.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Celebration of Life Service for Zelda will be held at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, January 11, 2011, 2:00 pm, Rev. Colin Cook officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery.
