At his residence on January 6, 2011, Mr. Robert Webber McLay of St. Andrews NB, husband of the late Ann Marie (McCullough) McLay. He was born on May 28, 1936, a son of the late Kenneth and Marian (McBride) McLay. He is survived by one daughter, Michele Nancy (Barry) Schriver of Ft. McMurray AB, three sons; Michael Edward McLay of Kuujjuaq, QC, Territory of Nunavik, Robert Timothy (Martha) McLay of Toronto ON, and Jack Kenneth (Christine) McLay of Ft. McMurray AB, 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two sisters; Jean McLay of St. Stephen NB and Norma Feeney of Fall River NS and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Heather, one grandson, Luke Timothy McLay, one brother, Bill McLay and by a sister, Margaret McKeen.
Prior to Bob's retirement, he was employed as a Customs Officer (CBSA). He was an avid golfer and enjoyed curling, as well as a good game of bridge and in his earlier years played softball. He was a member of the Heather Curling Club as well as a lifetime member of the Woodstock Golf and Curling Club. Bob had served 4 years with the Canadian Navy, based in Halifax and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 8.
A memorial service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel, at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 2 pm with Rev. Lorne MacLeod officiating. A reception will follow the service at the St. Andrews Legion Hall, St. Andrews NB. Donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, the Luke Timothy McLay Memorial Scholarship Fund or the MS Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
