SAMETZ, Eileen- Mary Eileen Sametz, born March 18, 1924 in Guelph, Ont, the only child of Paul and Molly Sanders, passed away with great courage and forbearance and in peace in Ottawa, Ont., on December 9, 2010. Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Zenon (1991) and infant daughter Mary Jane (1946), she leaves to mourn her children Roberta of Ottawa, Ont., Paul (Judith Kenacan) of Terrace, B.C., Ellen of Ottawa, Ont., Peter (Susan) of Regina, Sask., Jeremy of Larder Lake, Ont, Steven Duquette of Saskatoon, Sask., and their respective families. Eileen was a retired school Principal with the Carleton Separate School Board, former Ottawa Archdiocesan President of the Catholic Women's League, former teacher in St. John's with the Virginia Waters School for children with cerebral palsy, and former Executive Director of the St. John's YWCA. Eileen was a masterful educator, a compelling storyteller, an accomplished writer, and a skillful musician. She dedicated her life to serving others and assisting everyone she met to realize their full potential. She will be dearly missed by her many friends in Ottawa, Ont., Tenaga, PQ, Venice, Fla., and St. John's, N.L. Funeral Mass was held at St. Leonard's Church, Manotick on December 14, 2010.
