It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving brother, Douglas 'Doug' Keith Smith, who passed away Jan. 6, 2011, at home.
Born Oct. 19, 1951, in Neil's Harbour, he was a son of the late Everett and Doreen (Lawrence) Smith.
Doug was a lobster fisherman, who began fishing in his early 20s with his father. He fished on several boats throughout the years with the most recent being the Bonnie Roger III. Doug was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed sports fishing and camping. He also enjoyed making miniature lobster traps, playing poker, reading novels and watching football.
He will be sadly missed by sisters, Brenda (Bobby) Fitzgerald, Elaine Nunn; brothers, Jackie (Jocelyn), Derek (Anita), all of Neil's Harbour; seven nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by nephew, Carter.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, in St. Andrews Church, Neil's Harbour, Rev. Warren Huestis will officiate, interment in parish cemetery.
