It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles 'Sonny' Peddle on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Sydney Mines, Aug. 5, 1944, he was the son of the late Arthur and Pearl (Halliday) Peddle.
Sonny worked for over 35 years as a coal miner. Since his retirement he has spent his free time exploring the backwoods and beaches of Nova Scotia. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and cherished the time spent with his children, his grandson and family.
Charles is survived by his son, John (Angela), Bridgewater; his daughter, June (Bill) Potter, North Sydney; and his grandson, Gabriel Potter. Also surviving are his sisters, Thelma (Stanley) Gear, Pauline (John) Ross and Brenda Marsh.
He was predeceased by his son, Douglas Arthur and his wife, Marie (Francis).
The family would like to send heartfelt thanks to the palliative care team and to all the doctors and health care professionals who helped us during a very difficult time.
Visitation Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating.
Donations in his memory may be made to Cape Breton Palliative Care.
