Frederick Albert "Fred" Pede - 70, of Coldbrook, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011, with his wife by his side, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, following a five month battle with Multiple Myeloma (Bone Cancer). Born on August 6, 1940 in Simpson, Saskatchewan, he was the eldest child of Clara Pede, Medicine Hat, Alberta and the late Ewald Pede. He began school in Eston, Saskatchewan and later moved to Jansen, where he attended elementary, junior and senior high school. He attended the University of Saskatchewan and later moved to Toronto where he graduated from Devry Electronics College. He had been employed with General Electric Canada where he became supervisor in the TV manufacturing division. After a number of years, he joined Larcan Industries, from where he retired in 2001 and moved to Coldbrook. He was a lover of books and especially enjoyed reading mysteries. He was also an avid golfer and a fan of Mike Weir. Fred never lost his passion to cheer for his favourite football team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and also cheered for the Boston Bruins. In addition to his 97 year old mother, he is survived by his wife of 15 years, the former Vallerie Beach; two brothers, James (Joyce), Belleville, Ontario; Stan (Gail), Edmonton, Alberta; special cousin, Rodney (Edna) Klechter, Medicine Hat; many nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by his four pussy cats, Abby, Jethro, McGee and especially Gibbs. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his first wife, Jill Cartier (1993). Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Rob Heffernan officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital - Palliative Care.
