Phillip Fraser MacVicar, 64 of Glace Bay, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, Phillip was the son of the late John Elmer and Effie Ann (MacPherson) MacVicar. He was a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church and a long standing member of the Lion's Club. Phillip was a dedicated volunteer worker with the Northwood In Touch Emergency Service. He worked most of his life with Inco Nickel Corp.
Phillip will be sadly missed by sister, Sandra J. (Myles) Wilneff, Birch Grove; brothers, Donald N. MacVicar (Sharon), Glace Bay, Angus D. (Diane) MacVicar, Glace Bay and Robert A. (Christine) MacVicar, Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. Phillip also leaves to mourn, niece, Sherry Lee, nephew, Donald Keith, nephews, Blair (Lisa), John Joseph Wilneff, niece, Diane (Colin) and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
Besides his parents, Phillip was predeceased by his eldest brother, Garfield E. MacVicar.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay.
Visitation for Phillip MacVicar will take place on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, from 12-12:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Brookside Street, Glace Bay with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Shirley Murdock and Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Interment will be held in Black Brook Cemetery, Port Morien at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul's Presbyterian Church Building Fund or a charity of choice.
