EWERT - Born Olive Jane Beierle to George and Tina Beierle, on the farm at Bateman, Saskatchewan, April 6, 1926. She passed away January 6, 2011 at the age of 84. She now joins her husband Art. Olive had two brothers. Allan is in Calgary and Don (Colina) lives in Lethbridge. She went to The Saskatchewan Normal School in Moose Jaw, after graduating high school and became a teacher because at 17 she was too young to go into nursing. Mom taught in a one room school house in Oxbow, Sask for 2yrs. As the war broke out she headed for Winnipeg to study nursing. She also took one year of pharmacy. Being an adventurer Mom accepted a one year contact to teach nursing in Topeka, Kansas. By that time she had already met Dad and came home to Hodgeville to be married on December 2, 1951. They set up home in Hodgeville, with Dad farming, she went to work at the hospital. She was always Dad's helper during harvests and manned the combine, hauled grain and made great meals for the harvesters. She went on to be the Matron there for many years and then when the hospital closed in 1972 she was instrumental in the successful opening and operation of the health clinic in town. Olive took care of so many in the community for close to 40yrs. She felt it was a privilege to care for others. Mom had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior and she was confident that the Lord was always with her. As a family, we will always admire her tenacity for meeting the health challenges that were set before her, she handled these challenges with grace. Her family was most important and she was very proud of her son, Russ (Cheryl) and daughter Peggy. Grandchildren, Laura, Tara (Darcy), Tanya (Jon), Kimberly (Scott). Great Grandchildren, Cole (13), McKayla (9), Owen (6), William (1) We will miss her warmth, smile, encouragement and love.
