John Frank Lawrence - 81, of Windsor, N.S., formerly of Hantsport, Halifax and Truro and Shawinigan, Quebec, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. John was the son of the late J. Frank and Eva (North) Lawrence. His career spanned approximately 50 years in management roles in the financial services industry, most recently as President of Tacoma Investments Limited. John was a member of the Windsor Gyro Club, Hantsport Historical Society, Halifax Kinsmen Club, Truro Kinsmen Club, Truro K-40 Club, Truro Board of Trade, and the Truro Children's Aid Society, and served on the executive of these organizations at various times. He also served as a councillor in Kings County. John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn Grace (Gunn); brother, Terry; sister, Marion. He is survived by son, Terry (Barbara), Toronto, ON; daughters, Susan, Bedford; Janice, Abbotsford, BC; granddaughters, Kate, Emily, Andrea, Lauren, Cassandra and Kristen. Arrangements for cremation were entrusted to Lohnes - DeMont Funeral Service Ltd., 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 28. Funeral service was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 29 in Lohnes - DeMont Funeral Service Chapel, Rev. Dr. John Bartol and Rev. Jeffrey White officiated, immediately followed by a reception in the funeral home's Elmcroft Reception Centre. A private family burial took place in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport.
