With family at his side, the passing of Donald Keith Best of Fredericton and formerly of Chipman occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Monday, January 10, 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Briggs Corner, N.B., he was the son of the late Walter and Gladys (Rogers) Best. Keith was an automotive mechanic in the early part of his career in Chipman and Fredericton. He did service in the 1970's with the R.C.M.P. as an Auxiliary Constable. Keith joined Ross Ventures Ltd. in 1982 with the Property Management Division. He spent his final years, until his retirement, at Carleton Place, Fredericton. He enjoyed spending time with family. A keen outdoorsman, Keith's favourite hobbies were hunting and fishing. Keith is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sharon (Owens) Best; his youngest son Scott and older sons Sean, Christopher and William; a sister Ferne Best of Chipman; a brother Floyd Best of Chipman; father-in-law Bartley Owens of Geary; sister-in-law Ruth Branscombe (Best) of Sussex as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Hayward and Raymond; sister Hazel Goodwin; mother-in-law Catherine Owens and sister-in-law Mary Best. Keith is best known for treating everyone with respect, fairness and kindness.
Visitation will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Thursday, January 13, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. The funeral service will be held from Bishop's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 14th at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Betty-Jean Friedman officiating. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
