YAN - Chai Yeung at the age of 83, of Swift Current, SK, passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2009. She was born in Canton, China, on September 5, 1925, and attended the Kaiping primary school. She was married in 1946 to Kwok Sheng Yan in Canton, China. She immigrated to Hong Kong with her children, Raymond and Betty in 1958 and then finally came to Canada in 1980 with son, Gary. She was employed at Akropol and Creative Wok Cuisine until her retirement at the age of 65. Special interests included home cooked cuisine and gardening. She began attending the Swift Current Chinese Alliance Church in 1997, got baptized in 1999 and now enjoys her eternal life in Heaven with Jesus. The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 4, 2009, at Trailview Alliance Church in Swift Current, SK, with Pastors John Albiston and Ken Lam officiating. The pianists were June Lam, close friend to the family and Chai's granddaughter, Ami Yan. Eulogists were family members. Scriptures were read by Jennifer Yan in Chinese and Raymond Yan in English. Ushers were Len Lee and Doug Lam. The active pallbearers were Simon Chan, Paul Chan, Dave Chan, Calvin Yan, Wilson Yan, Derek Yan. Honorary pallbearers were Gerry Wilger (married to Elizabeth Chan), Lonnie Unger (married to Valerie Yan), Alex Yan and Eric Yan. The interment service will be held at Memorial Garden Cemetery, Swift Current, SK, at a later date. She is survived by: son, Raymond; daughter-in-law, Jennifer; granddaughter, Valerie; grandson-in-law, Lonnie Unger; grandsons, Derek, Alex, Eric; and granddaughter Ami; daughter, Betty; son-in-law, Cliff Chan; grandsons, Simon, Paul, Dave; granddaughter-in-law, Rebecca; great granddaughter, Nalani; granddaughter, Elizabeth; and grandson-in-law, Gerry Wilger; son, Gary; daughter-in-law, Rosanna; grandsons, Calvin, Wilson; and granddaughter, Starla. She was predeceased by parents, Woo Ping Yu and Wan Hou Tam; spouse, Kwok Sheng Yan; brother-in-law, Kwok Heng Yan; parents-in-law, Sheng Shek Yan, Chow Hou Lee; and daughter-in-law, Justina Yan.
