It is with broken hearts and immense sadness we announce the passing of our father, and best friend, Daniel David MacNeil, on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the Glace Bay Health Care Facility.
David had been employed as a stevedore with Marine Atlantic in North Sydney for 25 years, and later as a member of Local 92 Labourers Union in Ft. McMurray, retiring due to ill health.
David was a kind and generous man to anyone in need. His children, grandchildren and buddy Riley, were the joys in his life. He had many close friends, especially, Colin, Frank and Wilson, and will be sadly missed by all.
David was the loving father of John, Emma and Elstone; beloved grandfather ‘Keke’ to David, Laurissa and Danielle; dear brother of George, Sydney, Billy, New Jersey, Joe, Quebec, Millicent and Winnie Ida, both of Toronto, Vickie, New Jersey, and Emma Mary, Montreal.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Emma (Boutilier) MacNeil, and by his birth mother, Elstone Cusack.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held Saturday 3:30 p.m. from the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, with Norma Mills, officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
