Maureen Ann (nee Flynn) Fillier

Date de décès : 12 janvier 2011

It is with great sadness that the Flynn and Fillier families announce the passing of Maureen Ann Fillier (nee Flynn). She went peacefully after a brief but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 54. By her side were her husband of 32 years Abe, and her sons Curtis, Justin, (Nichole) and Corbin. Predeceased by her father Philip Flynn, brothers Martin and Joseph, brother-in-law Arthur Power and mother and father in-law Louise and Richard Fillier. Special daughter of Catherine Flynn (nee Culleton). She will be greatly missed by her brothers and sisters: Stan (Trudy), Terry, Peter (Alverna), Randy, Madonna Power, Monica Kerrivan (John), Linda (Doug), and Tammy. Maureen was a loving Godmother to her niece Shelley Power-Nayel (Danny) and favoured aunt to 26 nieces and nephews, 2 great-nieces and 7 great-nephews. Maureen was adored by many extended family and friends. She was an incredible, non-judgemental listener. Her kindness and generosity were an example to all who knew her. Even near the end, Maureen was more worried about her family than herself. Maureen and her husband Abe lived in Edmonton, Alberta for 30 years and helped many friends and families adjust to life in Alberta; providing a place to stay, a ride to work or a meal without hesitation. She was proudest of her three sons and the fine men they have become. With the care of her immediate family she was able to stay at home until her last few hours. A promise made and a promise kept. Special thanks to The Cross Cancer Hospital in Edmonton. Flowers gracefully accepted or donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Maureen's honour. Visitation will be held at Maher's Funeral Home, Placentia, from Thursday January 13 from 2-9 pm, and Friday, January 14 from 10 am - 2 pm. A funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 14 at 2 pm at Holy Rosary Church in Freshwater. A small gathering will be held immediately after in the Freshwater Community Center. Please visit www.mahersfuneralhome.ca to sign Maureen's online guest book.
