POWER, Austin Joseph- On January 13th, 2011, surrounded by his family and after a long battle with sickness, Austin Power, age 70 years, passed peacefully away to join his wife and soul mate Bernardine. Predeceased by his wife Bernardine Power (Hogan); his sister Cecilia Houlihan; brother Jim Power; parents Walter and Marie Power; parents -in-law Felix and Monica Hogan; his brother-in-law and best friend Francis Dyer; infant sister Bernadette and brother Kenneth; other brothers-in-law Jack Hanrahan, Pat Delaney and Andrew Woodfine. Left to mourn his daughters Sonya Power (Derm), Stephanie Power (Tony); his grandson and best buddy Cameron Manning; step grandchildren Peter, Tony Jr., Patrick, Rebecca and Geoffrey Dwyer; his brother John Power (Madeline), his sisters Nellie Roberts, Madonna Wilkinson (George), Bernice Boland (Jim), Anita Dyer; sisters-in-law Peggy Hanrahan, Dot Delaney, Josephine Woodfine, Catherine Power; brothers-in-law Kevin Houlihan, Benedict Hogan, Bill Hogan (Ellen), Leo Hogan (Marie), Jim Hogan (Rose - deceased), Ron Woodfine (Peggy); only living aunt Margaret Maynard and also many nieces and nephews. Austin was a loving and devoted husband, wonderful and loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He enjoyed many things in life, his family, friends, playing cards, walking (especially up and down the Grotto steps), he also enjoyed many years as part of the Flatrock Flyers Hockey Team which he took great pride in and was devoted to for over 25 years. There will now be many card games being played again. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, TORBAY. Visitation on Saturday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, January 18th from St. Michael's Church, Flatrock at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at R.C. Cemetery, Flatrock. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, Flatrock.
