The death of Florence Elizabeth Briggs, 85, occurred peacefully at the Kenneth Spencer Home, Moncton on Saturday, January 15, 2011, after a brief illness. Born in Malden, Florence was a daughter of the late James and Mary (Sweeney) Lane. Florence will be especially remembered for her smile and laughter. A great mom and grandmother, she was always devoted to her family. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Lorraine (Jean-Noel) Lirette, Moncton; three grandchildren; Mariah, Tanner and Jessica; spouse Walter Briggs, Melrose; brother Arthur (Dorothy), Moncton. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Dale; brothers, Cecil, Joseph, Harold, Albert and Fred and a sister, Marion.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin (538-2241). There will be visitation at the funeral home from 2 to 4 on Monday, January 17, 2011 and on Tuesday, January 18, from 1 pm until the time of departure. A funeral mass will be held at 3 pm from St. Bartholomew's Roman Catholic Church, Melrose on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Father MIchael Toner officiating.
