"If I had a flower for every time I thought of you, I would walk in my garden forever". It is with saddened hearts that the family of Mrs. Marie Margaret (Keenan) Gallagher of Fredericton announce her passing on January 15, 2011. Marie passed away as she lived with courage, spirit, faith, and surrounded by those she loved. A native of Johnville, N.B., Marie was born February 7th, 1924, the seventh of fifteen children to the late Harry and Mary (Sweeney) Keenan. Marie will be dearly missed by her loving and caring children, Joanne (Paul) Gibson, Fredericton, Brenda (Roger) Doucette, Bathurst, Donald Gallagher (Debbie Ayles), Belleisle Creek, Mary (Scott) Osmond, Norton and Connie Gallagher, Fredericton. Marie will be deeply missed by her beloved grandchildren who in return loved her dearly and will forever have wonderful memories of her. Christopher Gibson, Pamela Doucette (Dana Orgar), Tanya Doucette, Jennifer Gallagher, Charles Gallagher, Jamie Doucette, Christina Gallagher, Shaun Gallagher and Stephan Osmond, as well as her great grandchildren Chloe Gallagher and Emma Doucette and daughter-in-law Kathy Gallagher. Marie also leaves behind a large extended family of loving nieces and nephews and dear friends and neighbours. Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her loving husband John T. (1981), and her grandsons wife Kim Hiltz, son in law Blair Doucet, her brothers Alvin (Irene), Henry, Frank (Margaret), Avery, Frederick and Robert, her sisters Kathleen (Tommy) Courtney, Helen (Dan) Mahoney, and Olga (Al) Hewitt, brother in law's Jim Ross, and Andrew Jurosky. She is survived by her sisters Lillian (Jim) Bibby, Evelyn (Al) Catterson, Beatrice Ross, Monica Jurosky and Joan (Robert) Kenny, as well as her in-laws Irene Keenan, Mary Keenan, Margaret Keenan and Pauline Keenan, Joe (Connie) Gallagher, Anna Kilfoil, Eileen Gallagher, and Theresa Boyd. Proud of her Irish heritage, Marie loved life and all those who came into her life. She will always be remembered for her unconditional love and dedication to her family and friends. Her home at Manor Court was always open to everybody who enjoyed her cooking and playing those wonderful Irish tunes on the piano. Marie was a member of St. Dunstan's church as well as a life time member of the Liberal party and the CWL. As a devout Catholic, her faith carried her through life. She will lovingly be remembered by all who were fortunate to have known her. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Bruce and her wonderful caregivers.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18th, 2011 from 2 to 9 pm at McAdams Funeral Home located at 160 York Street. A mass of Christian burial to celebrate Marie's life will be held on Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 at 12:00 noon at St. Dunstan's Church, officiated by Rev. Gerald White.
